Character Name: Papyrus Gaster
Species: Skeleton Monster
Canon: Undertale (Variant of canon: Genocide Run)
Canon Point: Confronting the human at the edge of Snowdin
History:
• Long ago, humans and monsters ruled the Earth. One day, the humans attacked abruptly and mercilessly out of fear of the monsters. Monsters were too weak to put up a fight, and after countless monsters were massacred, the surviving monsters were sealed away underground by seven of the strongest human magicians beneath Mount Ebott. The seal came in the form of a barrier through which no monster could pass. Thousands of years passed in which the monsters had built and rebuilt their civilization.
• Created by WD Gaster as a single father, Papyrus joined the Gaster family as the second of two sons with his elder brother Sans of 8 years old.
• Papyrus grew up close with his father and brother. He was not immediately present for the accident at the lab that tainted his father and brother with Void energy, and after received a residual exposure. His health remained unaffected, however, when his father WD Gaster fell into the Void in a second accident, it blotted out his memories of his father, and with it, most of the memories of his life. He was 16 years old at the time, and clung to the sparse memories that were spared. Relying on Sans, Papyrus moved with him to Snowdin. A new sense of normalcy was forged, and life began over for him.
• Papyrus became a sentry in Snowdin. From there, Papyrus decided to try to join the Royal Guard and begged Undyne to allow him to become part of the guard. The last time he asked, her door was shut in his face. He had shown up in the middle of the night to ask yet again, but in the morning, he was still waiting for her. His dedication swayed her enough to 'train' him with cooking lessons. He remained driven to capture a human to convince Undyne he was indeed good enough to be trained to become more than a sentry.
• Papyrus encouraged Sans to become a sentry with him.
• He met a golden flower that could talk named Flowey the Flower, and it was about this time that he saw a seemingly sudden change in his brother. Sans fell into a depressed state, and Papyrus stepped up to provide him with motivation for fear of him falling down. With the extra responsibility, he began to do without sleeping at night. Papyrus is around 23 years old.
• A human named Frisk comes to the Underground as the first human in many years. Although Sans was the first to find him in this timeline, Papyrus jumped at the opportunity to finally capture a human and attempted to lead the human through many puzzles of his own making. Unfortunately, the human was not very cooperative. Papyrus is 24 years old.
• While not as aware of the timeline resets as Sans, at times, Papyrus has vague moments of recognition such as when he felt that the human that had come to the Underground seemed familiar.
• Papyrus recognized the danger the human presented as Frisk killed monsters around Snowdin, and when Frisk attempted to leave Snowdin to go to Waterfall, Papyrus confronted the child. Rather than try to fight, he reached out to Frisk in friendship – to which the child responded by attacking him. Laying in the snow as only a head, he encouraged the child one last time to change before he felt the last of himself disintegrating to dust.

Personality: Papyrus is the very definition of an optimist and has a knack for putting a positive spin on situations. Energetic and passionate, he puts all of his effort into everything he does and is very dedicated to his responsibilities. He believes in the abilities of others to a fault, and loves himself just as much as he loves other monsters and humans, whether he is their friend or not. His open heart makes it easy for him to be honest about himself, with no skeletons in his closet (except when he is in there of course). His love for himself often comes off as egotistical thanks to his brash way of acting, yet his self-acceptance helps him to keep striving for better. The love Papyrus has for his brother, however, is unmatched. Papyrus does all he can to be mindful of Sans without treating him as incapable. Despite the irritation his brother's habits and constant puns cause him, Papyrus knows his brother extremely well and relies on him as his support. That support allows Papyrus to be dependable; he has never missed a meeting with Undyne and answers his phone within the first two rings no matter the time of day or night. Papyrus is always ready to help.
In terms of intelligence, Papyrus lacks practical reasoning for things such as building standard structures (such as a gate with the bars too far apart to block anyone), solving written puzzles (word searches are hard), and following simple culinary instruction (still cannot cook spaghetti properly still). Instead, he excels in areas of interpersonal matters (seen when he sets up a situation for Undyne to become friends with the human), spatial reasoning (an artistic flare seen with snow sculpting, costume sewing, and physical 3-D puzzle building), and even some existential intelligence (reasoning through the matter of quality versus a quantity of friends when he has very few that he can call friend).
Simple pleasures bring Papyrus happiness, and his general perspective is rather childlike and naïve. He has a collection of action figures and has a race car bed while hoping for a day when he can drive a real car. While he does also enjoy puns, a result of his brother’s influence, he uses them mostly when he is especially excited.
Like other monsters, his body and abilities are directly linked to his emotional state. His heart is in the right place, and while he does show skills with fighting, he does not have the capacity to bring himself to seriously injure another person. What he lacks in aggression does not limit his desire to protect, and would not keep him from taking up a defense in a fight.

Abilities, Powers, Afflictions:
SOUL reveal: As all monsters can, Papyrus can bring the SOUL of another being into visible view. While monster SOULs are grey (a mix of love, compassion, and hope), human SOULs have distinct colors based on their defining personality trait. This ability is typically used during a fight, and allows Papyrus to gauge the level of damage he is inflicting on the other being. It could potentially be used out of fights to check on a comrade’s status.

Bone summoning: Papyrus, like his brother Sans, is able to create bones from nothing through magic. These bones can rise up from underground or materialize to fly through the air at various angles, the sizes can be small to several meters tall, and some carry a special 'blue' quality. This blue quality will deal excessive damage to a moving target, but anyone or anything stationary will not be damaged being hit by a blue bone. Papyrus has extremely refined control of his bones and can temper his attack power down to avoid ever doing more than knocking out an opponent and even alter their height/size as they move. This might be best interpreted as weakening the bone structures to more fragile/hollow bones.

Blue attack: Papyrus is able to turn a SOUL blue and this effectively exerts a downward gravity on the SOUL in a sustained restriction of movement. He can sustain this effect throughout a fight without disruption.

Physics-breaking exits: While his brother is able to "shortcut" himself around the map over vast distances, Papyrus shows his own odd ability. This varies from sliding backwards without stepping, spinning around in circles backwards, flipping repeatedly through the air jumping out of a window on ground level, or as extreme as running up into the air to pass over someone to continue on the path he needs to take without having to step around. This ability appears when he departs to a different location nearby.

Healing magic: As simple as it sounds, Papyrus can restore the full physical health of others, human or monster, with the use of magic.

Skeletal attributes/General Monster attributes:
• As a skeleton, Papyrus is highly resistant to temperature variations and can comfortably handle the heat near lava or spending hours on end on ice and through snow without ill effect.
• His skeletal body is lightweight, likely close to 30lbs under normal gravity. Like his brother however, Papyrus can firmly plant himself with increased gravity effects and resist wind and other natural/unnatural forces through his magic.
• As a monster, his body is closely linked to his SOUL which makes him attuned to his magic but weaker in SOUL and body as compared to a human.
• If he becomes emotionally disheartened, his body weakens as do his magical attacks. Should he ever lose hope entirely, Papyrus would fall down like any other monster into a comatose state before his body disintegrates sometime later to dust.
• A monster’s defense against physical attacks is determined by a mixture of the monster’s willingness to fight and the attacker’s intention to harm.
• All monsters have the ability to absorb a human SOUL to obtain unfathomable power – but this act is taboo and has only been performed rarely by the entire race. When 7 human SOULs are absorbed by a monster, this monster is able to obtain a god’s level of power.

Language: Papyrus learned three languages early in his life that were deeply ingrained into his implicit memories, even if he cannot remember where he learned the first two aside from his brother. He can communicate with the Monster equivalent of sign language, “Wingdings” in spoken or written form, and common Monster language that allows him to speak directly with humans.

Voided explicit memory: The first 16 years of his life are almost entirely a blank. He still retains scant memories from those years, but those intact memories are of him with his brother Sans by themselves. Although the missing memories can be roused in small chunks temporarily, they slip away into oblivion again as soon as he goes to sleep or becomes too tired to focus as he has to actively work to keep the memory in his consciousness.

Path Preference: Papyrus would be well suited to either the path of Discovery or the path of Chivalry. Between his resistance to temperature changes and most environmental obstacles simply by nature of being a skeleton coupled with his love for puzzles, Papyrus would likely be up for any challenge from the Discovery guild. Additionally, after being confined underground his entire life, a chance to explore would be very enticing to him. In regards to the Chivalry guild, Papryus served as a sentry in Snowdin prior, and wants to protect others. While he will not kill other living beings, he has other methods of addressing conflicts, and will fight defensively.

Element Preference: Light – With his tendency to avoid violence and his optimistic energy, Papyrus seems a natural fit for this element. Ice – Hailing from Snowdin, an area of the caverns covered in snow and ice, it is an element he is very familiar with, and the cold has no effect on him physically. Earth – Papyrus is dependable and steadfast like stone, and he remains firm in his beliefs even in the face of his own death.

Anima Creature Description: Once fully grown, the anima will be a large creature with impressive length. It stands 10 feet at the shoulders with a long neck, and 3 separate rib cages that are linked by a thick spine column and supported by 4 pairs of legs. From nose to rump, the anima is approximately 40 feet in length with an additional 25 feet belonging to its prehensile tail. The head of the anima is somewhat blocky in shape with a solid crest along the top and a lower jaw that splits in half. From under the edge of that crest begins a thick, white mane of long fur that stretches down over the back and coats most of the tail. The mane has strands that are bioluminescent throughout and vary from white to orange to blue. The “flesh” of the anima varies with exposure to light. While in direct sunlight, it appears only to be a skeleton with nothing more than a thick mist surrounding the bones beneath the fur. The mist is tangible and cannot be penetrated without force, but shifts in a slow current like swirls of fog. In shade or moonlight, the anima instead appears to be made of a cloudy ice that moves and breathes like living tissue. At the end of the 8 legs are tripod feet that are tipped with sturdy talons that allow it to grasp to the terrain with one digit directly backward and the other two splayed towards the front 90 degrees apart.
When first born, this anima has no limbs. Upon reaching 5 feet in length, it will show small knobs at the base of its neck, and these will grow to full legs upon reaching 10 feet in length. The other three sets of legs develop in a similar pattern at a ratio closer to 9 and 18 feet.
The anima sustains on a diet of vegetation and minerals, and will be capable of absorbing minerals from bone. It has a particular favor for evergreen trees.
In terms of abilities: this anima can swim for up to an hour without surfacing; it is immune to cold and tolerant of high heat for only short durations; given a chance to get up to speed it can run fast enough to pace highway traffic but is far more impressive in terms of endurance with the ability to sustain this speed for nearly an entire day without break; and is capable of standing on only two of its limbs without other support; and at lower speeds, this anima can carry heavy loads.

Anima Traits:
• Dependable
• Compassionate
• Friendly/Eager to please
• Loyal
